This Privacy Policy explains how Atilla Kasapbaşı, doing business as YouQue ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use the YouQue mobile and web application (the "Services"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.

1. What we collect
Information you give us
When you create an account, use the Services, or contact us, we collect the information you provide directly. Depending on which features you use, this may include:
- Name or display name (handle)
- Email address
- Phone number (if you sign in via SMS verification)
- Profile preferences (mood selections, interests, custom inputs you type)
- Avatar choice and personalization settings
- Messages and content you share with other users (DMs, group chats, reactions)
- Feedback you send us (support emails, in-app feedback)
Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information:
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- IP address and approximate location (country / region only)
- Usage data (which features you use, how often, which videos you save or skip)
- Session timestamps
- Crash reports and diagnostic logs
We do not collect precise GPS location, contact lists, or device biometrics.
Information from third parties
If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a unique identifier from that provider. We do not access anything else in your Google or Apple account.
2. How we use it
We use your information to:
- Provide the core service — generate personalized video recommendations based on your mood, interests, and inputs
- Operate your account — authentication, identity verification, customer support
- Improve recommendations — learn from your saves, skips, and feedback to refine future suggestions
- Enable social features — DMs, group chats, sharing, reactions, Explore
- Send service emails — important account updates, security notices, policy changes (not marketing)
- Detect abuse and protect users — fraud prevention, spam blocking, terms enforcement
- Comply with law — respond to legal requests, defend our legal rights
3. When we share it
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these specific cases:
- With service providers who help operate YouQue — listed in section 5 below
- With other users when you choose to share — your display name, avatar, and shared videos are visible to people you message or in Explore
- For legal reasons — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property
- In a business transfer — if YouQue is acquired or merged, your data may transfer to the new entity (you will be notified)
4. AI processing
YouQue uses AI (specifically, the Anthropic Claude API) to interpret your mood and interest inputs and to generate recommendations. Your inputs are sent to Anthropic for processing in real time. Anthropic does not store this data beyond a short operational retention period (currently 7 days) and does not train its models on YouQue user data.
Recommendation outputs are generated from your current session inputs combined with your in-app history. We do not use AI to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Third parties we use
To operate YouQue, we share necessary data with the following service providers:

Each provider has its own privacy policy. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and Google — we never see or store credit card details.
6. Cookies and tracking
The YouQue website uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. The mobile app uses local storage on your device for similar purposes but does not contain advertising SDKs.
7. Social logins
You can sign in using Google or Apple. When you do, we receive your basic profile info (name, email, unique ID). We do not post anything to your social account, access your contacts, or read your messages. You can disconnect at any time in account settings.
8. International transfers
YouQue operates from Turkey, our database is hosted in the EU (Ireland), and our service providers operate globally — primarily in the United States. When you use the Services, your data may be transferred to and processed in these countries.
For users in the EU, UK, and other regions with data protection laws, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards with each processor. Anthropic's data processing for our AI calls is covered by Anthropic's SCCs with a maximum 7-day operational retention window.
9. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records by law (for example, tax records) or to defend legal claims.
Mood and recommendation logs older than 12 months are anonymized and used only in aggregate for service improvement.
10. How we protect it
We use industry-standard security measures: encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted database storage, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and limit access to your data to the minimum necessary.
If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
11. Minors
YouQue is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@youque.app and we will delete it.
For users between 13 and 18, parental consent may be required depending on your local laws.
12. Your privacy rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct — update inaccurate information
- Delete — request deletion of your account and personal data
- Object — object to certain types of processing
- Restrict — request that we limit processing
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@youque.app or use the data tools in your account settings. We respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
13. Do-Not-Track signals
Some browsers send a "Do-Not-Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry-standard for responding to DNT signals, and YouQue does not currently respond to them. We do not engage in cross-site tracking regardless.
14. US state privacy rights
If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, New Hampshire, New Jersey, or any other US state with consumer privacy laws, you have additional rights:
- The right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used
- The right to delete personal information
- The right to correct inaccurate information
- The right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights

California Shine the Light: California residents may request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes — we don't do this, but you can confirm via email.
15. Other regions
European Economic Area, UK, Switzerland
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, our legal basis for processing your data is one or more of: (a) your consent, (b) performance of a contract with you, (c) compliance with a legal obligation, or (d) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services. Canada
We comply with PIPEDA. You have the right to access and correct your personal information.
Gulf Cooperation Council (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman)
We respect local data protection laws in each country including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the Saudi PDPL, and equivalent frameworks. Contact us for specific requests under these laws.
16. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
