This Privacy Policy explains how Atilla Kasapbaşı, doing business as YouQue ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use the YouQue mobile and web application (the "Services"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
YouQue is intended for people 16 and older. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us at privacy@youque.app.
When you create an account, use the Services, or contact us, we collect the information you provide directly. Depending on which features you use, this may include:
When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information:
We do not collect precise GPS location, contact lists, or device biometrics.
If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a unique identifier from that provider. We do not access anything else in your Google or Apple account. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a token whose only use is to revoke YouQue's access on Apple's side when you delete your account.
We use your information to:
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these specific cases:
YouQue is an AI-powered video recommendation app. We use Anthropic's Claude (a large language model service operated by Anthropic, PBC) to interpret your inputs and select the right video for you.
When you use YouQue, the following information is sent to Anthropic's API:
We do not send your name, email, handle, display name, friends list, messages, saved videos, watch history, or payment information to Anthropic.
Anthropic does not train its models on data sent via the API per their commercial terms (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms).
Because YouQue's core functionality is AI-driven recommendation, we do not provide a per-session opt-out for AI processing — using the app means consenting to this processing. If you wish to revoke your consent, you can delete your account at any time — open your Profile, tap the settings icon, scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete account, then confirm. This removes all your data from our systems.
Anthropic's Privacy Policy: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
To operate YouQue, we share necessary data with the following service providers:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude API) | AI recommendation processing | Mood / interest inputs |
| Google (YouTube Data API) | Video metadata and playback | Search queries, video IDs |
| Supabase | Database, authentication | Account data, app data |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, edge delivery, security | Network traffic, IP address |
| Adapty | Subscription and entitlement management, purchase analytics | A pseudonymous account identifier (your YouQue user ID — not your name or email address) and your subscription / purchase status. Advertising-identifier (Apple IDFA, Android advertising ID) and IP-address collection are disabled. |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery | Email address, message content |
| PostHog | Product analytics — which features get used | Counts of in-app actions — the app being opened; the AI disclosure being accepted, or sign-up refused by the age check; how many interests you chose; which mood you picked; whether a recommendation was requested, served, or could not be produced, and a general reason code if it could not; whether you opened, watched, or could not play the video; and whether a purchase screen was shown, or a purchase or restore attempted. Every event also carries your mobile operating system and its version, and a random identifier generated on your device — never your YouQue user ID, name, email address, or handle, and we send nothing that would link these events to your account. No free text: never your typed words, a search query, a video or channel name, or message content. Like any internet service, PostHog sees your device's IP address when the app connects to it; the project is configured to discard it on receipt, so it is not stored against your activity or used to work out your location. No advertising identifier is used. Processed in the EU. |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Push notification delivery on Android | Device push token, the notification text, and the identifier of the record it refers to |
| Apple (Apple Push Notification service) | Push notification delivery on iOS | Device push token, the notification text, and the identifier of the record it refers to |
| Apple / Google | App distribution, in-app purchases | Payment processed by them directly — we never see your card |
Each provider has its own privacy policy. YouQue uses YouTube API Services to find and show videos, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to that use: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and Google — we never see or store credit card details. A push notification never contains the content of a message — it tells you only that someone sent you one, never what it said.
The YouQue website uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. The mobile app uses local storage on your device for similar purposes but does not contain advertising SDKs.
Our product-analytics component (PostHog, listed in section 5) keeps one further entry in that local storage: a random identifier, generated on your device, so that separate events can be recognised as coming from one app rather than many. It is not a cookie, it is not an advertising identifier, and it is not linked to your account. If you turn analytics off under Settings → Privacy & Safety → "Share usage data", that entry is deleted and no new one is kept; if you later turn it back on, a fresh identifier is generated, so the two periods are not joined together. That setting governs these analytics only: it does not switch off the account data described in sections 1 and 2, which we need in order to run the service and which is removed when you delete your account.
You can sign in using Google or Apple. When you do, we receive your basic profile info (name, email, unique ID). We do not post anything to your social account, access your contacts, or read your messages. You can disconnect at any time by deleting your account, as described in section 4.
YouQue operates from Turkey, our database is hosted in the EU (Ireland), and our service providers operate globally — primarily in the United States. When you use the Services, your data may be transferred to and processed in these countries.
For users in the EU, UK, and other regions with data protection laws, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards with each processor. Anthropic's data processing for our AI calls is covered by Anthropic's Standard Contractual Clauses, and API inputs and outputs are automatically deleted within 30 days of receipt or generation. Anthropic may keep them for longer where the law requires it, or where its automated safety systems flag the content for review.
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records by law (for example, tax records) or to defend legal claims.
Mood and recommendation logs older than 12 months are anonymized and used only in aggregate for service improvement.
We use industry-standard security measures: encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted database storage, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and limit access to your data to the minimum necessary.
If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
YouQue is intended for people 16 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe someone under 16 has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@youque.app and we will delete it.
You have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@youque.app. You can delete your account yourself from inside the app, as described in section 4; every other request is handled by email. We respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Some browsers send a "Do-Not-Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry standard for responding to DNT signals, and YouQue does not currently respond to them. We do not engage in cross-site tracking regardless.
If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, New Hampshire, New Jersey, or any other US state with consumer privacy laws, you have additional rights:
Email privacy@youque.app with your request. You may also designate an authorized agent.
California Shine the Light: California residents may request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes — we don't do this, but you can confirm via email.
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, our legal basis for processing your data is one or more of: (a) your consent, (b) performance of a contract with you, (c) compliance with a legal obligation, or (d) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services. Our representative for GDPR purposes is currently the controller (Atilla Kasapbaşı). Contact: privacy@youque.app.
We comply with PIPEDA. You have the right to access and correct your personal information.
We respect local data protection laws in each country including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the Saudi PDPL, and equivalent frameworks. Contact us for specific requests under these laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
